About Capital Brewery Co Inc
One of the oldest craft breweries in the United States, located in Middleton, WI. They are known for their traditional German-style lagers and a strong commitment to sustainability. Their facility, a former egg processing plant, features a large Bier Garten and a cozy indoor Bier Stube.
History
Founded on March 14, 1984, by Ed Janus and Tony Frey. They used a unique 'crowdfunding' method, selling $10 shares to local investors. Production began in 1986 using copper kettles imported from the Krekeler Brewery in Germany. The brewery has won over 240 awards and was named 'America's #1 Rated Brewery' by the Beverage Testing Institute in 1998.
