About City Brewing Co
A leading regional beer brewery and one of the largest beverage producers in the US, specializing in both its own brands and extensive contract brewing/packaging for other beverage makers. They operate as a 'third-tier' brewery, providing quality beers at a fair price with a strong focus on local distribution.
History
Founded in 1858 by John Gund and Gottlieb Heileman in La Crosse, WI. It became the G. Heileman Brewing Co. in 1872 and grew into a national powerhouse, producing brands like Old Style. After facing financial struggles and bankruptcies in the 1990s under various owners, the plant was closed in 1999. It was resurrected in 2000 as City Brewery by local investors and former employees who sought to preserve the city's brewing legacy.
