About Cercis Brewing Company
A brewpub in Columbus, WI, designed as a welcoming, family-friendly social gathering spot. It is located in a historic 1920 building that has served as an auto dealership and a bowling alley. The brewery is named after the Cercis canadensis (Eastern redbud tree), which is prominent in Columbus.
History
Opened on May 24, 2018, by brothers Kurt and Keith Benzine, their brother-in-law Randy Sunde, and friend Tyler Walker. The partners are longtime friends and homebrewers. They purchased the building in 2017 and acquired brewing equipment from the defunct Hydro Street Brewing Company. Note: Announced closure on February 16, 2025.
